About Us
Baddow Eagles were formerly based in South Woodham Ferrers, the club relocated to Great Baddow, Essex, in 1998. The club has continued to expand since then.
We now have a successful Men's Senior Team competing in the Essex Basketball League. There are Boy's Junior Teams who regularly compete in a Central Venues Competition and County Competition against other junior clubs from around the county and the region. The success of the Junior Boys programme means that we now have U14, U16 and U18 teams competing in the National League. The club expanded further by forming a Junior Girl's section, who also compete in a Central Venues Competition and County Competition and next season a National League programme will be started for the Girls. This junior development has led to the formation of a Senior Womens team. A Primary age club has been established to introduce basketball to younger age groups in weekly training sessions and basketball camps.
A result of moving to the area has been the forging of a very successful relationship between the club and Great Baddow Sports College. The College has made a large contribution to the club and has helped the club achieve its current position. Together we hope to continue providing the community with excellent basketball opportunities. In a joint venture between the club and school, we have just been awarded EBBA Academy status, in recognition of the quality of basketball provision and means children from around the region can attend the school for their academic studies and receive high quality coaching whilst at school and in the club in the National League. This is the first Academy in the country for 14 to 18 year olds.
The club has achieved EBBA 3-Star accreditation which reflects the size and committed of the club. Eagles have also received the Gold Club SX Accreditation, which shows links in the local community and a high level of organization. An application for EBBA 4-Star accreditation is being prepared, which only 1 club in the nation currently holds. Eagles were recently awarded the Sport England ClubMark Award, in recognition of the clubs quality, and for providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment. Eagles were put forward as the sole basketball representative in a recent Sport England promotion. The multi-sport promotion provided national exposure for Sport England in its attempt to get 1000 accredited clubs. It is a huge honour for Eagles to be nominated by EBBA as its representative in the scheme.
